TePe Plaqsearch™
TePe Plaqsearch is a plaque disclosing tablet developed by TePe that uses food dye to show residual plaque on teeth / They are an easy self-check method to show areas that need to be brushed better.
TePe developed their line of PlaqSearch pills as a complement to the regular tooth brushing routine. The chewable tablet uses food dye to colour plaque that was left behind after tooth brushing. PlaqSearch pills are a perfect way to self-check and improve the overall oral hygiene routines for both children and adults alike by highlighting problem areas.
- Two different colour indicators: blue signals old plaque, while red shows more recent plaque / Chew a tablet after brushing and rinse mouth with water afterwards. The two-tone disclosing product works by colouring new plaque red and old (older than 12 hours) plaque blue. It clearly shows the areas that need extra care.

The two most common oral diseases are tooth decay (dental caries) and gum disease. Both are caused by the accumulation of plaque bacteria on the teeth and gums. Plaque bacteria is colourless and difficult to see, until it builds up to form a thick layer, and requires regular removal to avoid dental problems.
Why disclose plaque?
Plaque is difficult to see especially when it is between or on the inside of the teeth or at the back of the mouth. Disclosing products are useful for showing where plaque has accumulated and where brushing needs to be directed.
Although there are a number of products available, PlaqSearch is a more advanced range as it not only shows where the plaque is but also identifies the difference between the old and newer plaque. This is important as the older plaque can be more harmful. PlaqSearch indicates newer plaque as red and older plaque as blue. Once stained the plaque can then be brushed away which helps improve the brushing technique by identifying where the problem areas are.
Are they suitable for children?
Yes, they are formulated with children in mind, although we recommend children under 12 year should be supervised to minimise potential mess. Children will be motivated to remove the stained plaque from their teeth. They usually respond particularly well to the challenge of the disclosing session - where they disclose, brush, then disclose again, to see how well they have brushed!
When a child is able to spit out usually about 5 years disclosing should be encouraged to help develop a regular and effective brushing technique.
Unlike other products PlaqSearch doesn't contain sugar or erythrosine. They are also gluten free and suitable for vegetarians.
Brush teeth thoroughly afterwards to remove all stains.

Refund Policy
Returns:
Request for returns must be lodged to smile@smileshop.co.za
Our policy lasts 21 days. If 21 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.
To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase.
Please do not send your purchase back to the manufacturer.
There are certain situations where only partial refunds are granted:
Products with obvious signs of use
Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error
Any item that is returned more than 21 days after delivery.
Items must be in a re-sellable condition/original packaging and not damaged.
Due to some hygienic consideration not all products can be returned. All care should be taken in shipping products in closed original and sealed packages.
Manufacture guarantees on certain Electrical tooth brushes will be honoured (on recommendation of manufactures guidelines)
Refunds (if applicable)
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days.
Late or missing refunds (if applicable)
If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.
Then contact your financial institution, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.

Sale items
Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded.
Exchanges (if applicable)
We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email at smile@smileshop.co.za
Gifts
If the item was marked as a gift when purchased and shipped directly to you, you’ll receive a gift credit for the value of your return. Once the returned item is received, a gift certificate will be mailed to you.
If the item wasn’t marked as a gift when purchased, or the gift giver had the order shipped to themselves to give to you later, we will send a refund to the gift giver and he will find out about your return.
Shipping
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.
If you are shipping an item over R1,000 you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.
